Virtual Tour of Krakow with FestivALT (Zoom)

Details

When:
January 27, 2021
Time:
12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Join us for a virtual tour of Kraków’s southern area “KL Płaszów,” which contained a Nazi labor and concentration camp, Austro-Hungarian military fortifications, and two Jewish cemeteries. Today it functions primarily as a public park.

FestivALT Co-Director Adam Schorin will explore the site’s history, discover what remnants of its past lives are still present and engage in a complicated debate about this site’s treatment. Stephen Wise congregant and longtime activist for the Kraków Jewish community Elizabeth Szancer will moderate this conversation.

FestivALT is an independent arts collective that produces programs of critically minded Jewish art and activism in Kraków, Poland. As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, FestivALT created ALT Tours, which mixes art and history to create conversation.

Sponsored by the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue Anti-Semitism Task Force and Community Connections.
