Facts on the Ground: Firsthand Accounts of Ukraine Relief Efforts 🖥

As more than 10 million Ukraines have been displaced, including more than 3.5 million fleeing Ukraine, people from around the world have opened their hearts and wallets to help relieve this humanitarian crisis. Join us for a moderated discussion with Ukraine Crisis Committee of the World Union for Progressive Judaism Co-Chair Rabbi Igor Zinkov and JCC Krakow’s Executive Director Jonathan Ornstein. They will report on the conditions on the ground in and around Ukraine and their ongoing relief efforts.

Rabbi Igor Zinkov is the co-chair of the Ukraine Crisis Committee of the World Union for Progressive Judaism and European Union for Progressive Judaism. He received ordination from London’s Leo Baeck College and has a master’s in electrical engineering. Originally from Chelyabinsk, Russia, he has extensive youth work experience in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.  Since 2019, he has served on the rabbinic team of The Liberal Jewish Synagogue in London.

 

Jonathan Ornstein has served as the executive director of the Jewish Community Centre of Krakow, Poland, since its opening in April 2008. Devoted to rebuilding Jewish life in Krakow, the JCC boasts over 750 Jewish members, welcomes 10,000 visitors a month, and has become one of Poland’s most visible signs of Jewish revival. Ornstein created Ride For The Living and Holocaust Survivor Day, and serves on the boards of the Krakow branch of the Child Survivors of the Holocaust organization, Hillel Poland, JCC Global, and the Abraham Global Peace Initiative.
