Shabbat with the Israel National Defense College
With Israel’s recent conflict with Gaza still fresh, it’s more important than ever for us to show our support for the brave soldiers who defend the Jewish homeland. Join Stephen Wise Free Synagogue for a special Friday night Shabbat service with the future leaders of Israel’s military and police!
In partnership with the consul general of Israel in New York, some 50 of the highest-ranking officers from the Israel National Defense College are coming to New York to get to know more about diaspora Jewish communities like ours.
Due to capacity restrictions and extensive safety protocols, anyone planning to attend in person must register in advance. And on the day you plan to visit the synagogue building, you must self-certify using this COVID-19 screening form. We’re also proud to live stream our services. Tune in on our website, Facebook or YouTube.
And at an exclusive dinner following services, some of our members will have the rare opportunity to hear firsthand from senior Israel Defense Forces and police officers about Israel’s security situation and what it’s like to serve on the front lines. We encourage families to bring their older children — especially teenagers and college students — for this unique chance to meet Israeli soldiers.
Tickets for the dinner are $85 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis for Stephen Wise Free Synagogue members only (members will receive an email invitation to purchase tickets). Due to strict safety protocols, space is extremely limited and every person dining with us will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19.Category: Live Stream, Adult Education, Adults, Shabbat, Israel Interest, Shabbat Friday, Kabbalat Shabbat, Religious Services and Holidays, Featured Events
