Israel Under Fire: An Insider’s Look at the Fight for Israel in the Media 🙋

Sunday, Feb 4, 2024
10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Stephen Wise Free Synagogue
Free – $25

Gil Hoffman may not be a soldier fighting on Israel’s military battlefield, but he is engaged in a different kind of battle…

As the executive director of HonestReporting, Gil fights for Israel by exposing the abundance of inaccurate and sometimes malicious reporting in international media.

If you’re interested in learning the real story, join Gil on February 4, when he’ll be reviewing the most recent political and military developments in Israel, and how those events were covered in global media. He will also discuss the October 7th attack — including takeaways and lessons for the future.

Brunch will be provided. Admission is $20 for SWFS members, $25 for non-members, and free for all students.

This program is co-sponsored by Stephen Wise Free Synagogue’s Amplify Israel initiative and Israel Committee, with generous support from the Schwartz Israel Fund.

Gil Hoffman is the executive director and executive editor of HonestReporting, which fights for Israel in the international mainstream and social media. A lecturer on political strategy at Israel’s College of Management and former chief political correspondent and analyst for The Jerusalem Post for 24 years, Gil is well-connected to Israeli and Palestinian leaders. He has interviewed every major figure across the Israeli political spectrum, has been interviewed by top media on six continents and is a regular analyst on CNN, Al-Jazeera and other news outlets.
He was raised in Chicago, graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and wrote for the Miami Herald and Arizona Republic before moving to Israel. A reserve soldier in the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, he has lectured in every major English-speaking country in the world, more than half the Canadian provinces and recently made history in Hawaii by becoming the first speaker to have lectured about Israel in all 50 U.S. states. He lives with his family in Jerusalem.
