Even as Hannah Senesh was preparing to parachute into occupied Europe, fellow Hungarian Jew Rudolf Kastner was negotiating with Adolf Eichmann to try to save Jews. Senesh was caught and executed by firing squad, cementing her status as a Jewish folk hero; Kastner survived and settled in Israel, where he was accused of collaborating with the Nazis.

The Stephen Wise Free Synagogue community is invited to an exclusive reading of “The Match,” a new musical that examines what it means to be a hero, the brutal calculus of impossible choices, and how far weโ€™d be willing to go to save a life.
