When Israel’s soldiers are injured, it’s up to the elite helicopter-borne combat search and rescue Unit 669 to extract the wounded and provide medical treatment โ€” often under fire and from behind enemy lines. Since October 7th and throughout the ongoing war with Hamas, the combat medics, surgeons and pilots from this special rescue unit have carried out some 300 life-saving medevacs and operations.

American Friends of Unit 669 was established to build the connection between U.S. Jews and and the unit’s veterans โ€” to maximize their potential and impact in their local communities, in Israeli society and around the world.

Stephen Wise Free Synagogue is proud to host AFU669’s executive vice president, Capt. (res.) Bar Reuven, an entrepreneur and a veteran of Unit 669 who established its alumni organization; Sgt. 1st Class (res.) G.M., one of the first responders on Oct. 7; and Israeli Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson and Channel 14 New York Correspondent Tal Heinrich, a veteran of the IDF’s special signal intelligence Unit 8200 and Spokesperson’s Unit.

Light bites and wine will be served. The program will be followed by Q+A moderated by Jews of New York founder Yoav Davis.

This program is co-sponsored by Stephen Wise Free Synagogue’s Amplify Israel initiative and Israel Committee, American Friends of Unit 669, and Jews of New York.
