What is the future of Israel-diaspora Jewish relations? Explore this question with Dr. Nachman Shai, Israel’s new minister of diaspora affairs and a panel of Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox Rabbis Ammiel Hirsch, Elliot Cosgrove and Chaim Steinmetz, moderated by Rabbi Lori Koffman. Together they will discuss building a new model to guide the relationship between American Jewry and Israel – one based on mutual respect, dialogue, and responsibility.

Dr. Nachman Shai is Israel’s minister of diaspora affairs. Dr. Shai took on this position after many devoted years in service of Israel and of strengthening the relationship between the Jewish state and the Jewish people. The minister served as a member of the Knesset representing the Labor Party from 2009 to 2019. During his time in the Knesset, Dr. Shai founded and co-chaired the “Caucus for Strengthening the Jewish People.”

Ammiel Hirsch is senior rabbi at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue.

Elliot Cosgrove is senior rabbi at Park Avenue Synagogue.

Chaim Steinmetz is senior rabbi at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun.

Lori Koffman is director of content and innovation at Park Avenue Synagogue.
