78th Commemoration of the Liquidation of the Kraków Ghetto

Details

When:
March 14, 2021
Time:
10:00 am - 11:45 am

From March 13 to 16, 1943, the Nazi German SS and local police “liquidated” the Kraków ghetto, killing some 2,000 Jews on the spot. Another 2,000 deemed able to work were sent to the Płaszów labor camp and 3,000 were transported to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where 549 were selected for forced labor; the rest were murdered in the camp’s gas chambers.

Join the New Crakow Friendship Society in collaboration with the Galicia Jewish Museum, JCC Kraków and Stephen Wise in marking the 78th anniversary of the Kraków ghetto’s liquidation. The Jewish Galicia Museum will lead a live tour of the ghetto and end at the remaining Ghetto wall. We’ll remember those who perished in there by reading their names and placing stones on the wall. Rabbi Sam Natov will lead part of the commemoration, which will include music by Cantor Dan Singer and Stephen Wise President Marc Bernstein.

If you have knowledge of family members who died in the ghetto, please send their names to Steven Radwan. May their memory be for a blessing.
