The language of the ancient Israelites, Hebrew ceased to be spoken between 200β400 CE, in the aftermath of the Third Jewish Revolt against the Roman Empire β but its use continued in Jewish literature and liturgy for centuries. Much like the miracle of the modern state of Israel, Hebrew is one of the only true examples of the revival of a dead language.
Level A is intended for learners with little or no experience with the language. Level B is appropriate for those who already know the aleph-bet and can “decode” Hebrew words (read without full comprehension), this class will focus on both conversational Hebrew and some Biblical reading.
