About the Director
Lori Schneider has been the Director of the ECC since her arrival at Stephen Wise in 1994. She is responsible for the ECC’s transformation from a 43-student school to a strong community of more than 120 children. Under Lori’s leadership, the ECC has established itself as an innovative and dynamic school with an engaging and devoted team of teachers and other professionals.
Lori is a member of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (“ISAAGNY”), the organization of admissions directors and heads of schools that, among other things, sets standards for admissions processes at all member independent schools in the Greater New York City area. She is also a Board Member of the Board of Jewish Education. Lori has traveled to Reggio Emilia to participate in two study tours.
About the Assistant Director
Miriam Kalmar has been the Assistant Director at Stephen Wise ECC since July 2007. She has a degree in Psychology from Yeshiva University and a Master’s of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education.
Before coming to Stephen Wise, she worked as a classroom teacher of young children. She has participated in an educator trip to Israel and a study tour in Reggio Emilia.
