Wednesday, August 27 (6:30-8:00pm)
HIAS Mock Networking Session

HIAS (The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) works to rescue those in peril, reunite families in freedom, and enable newcomers to build new lives with hope and prosperity. The Mock Networking Night provides immigrant jobseekers with a chance to practice their networking skills in a friendly and responsive environment. The event is a practice event. Jobseekers are not expecting to find job leads.
Volunteer Roles: Help jobseekers feel as comfortable as possible while they are improving their ability to interact, present, and network in a social setting.
Location: HIAS HQ, 333 Seventh Avenue, 16th

Saturday, August 30 (1:30-2:30pm)
Kateri Residence: Friendly Visiting

Kateri Residence provides short-term rehabilitation, sub-acute and long-term care. SWFS programs at the Kateri Residence are in partnership with UJA/Federation.
Volunteer Roles: Spend some time on Shabbat afternoon visiting with the residents at Kateri.
Location: 150 Riverside Drive (entrance on 87th)

August 29 - September 1
Hazon's Jewish Environmental Bike Ride

Hazon's mission is to revitalize Jewish life, to foster new vision and to encourage Jews, as Jews, to live healthier and more environmentally sustainable lives.
Volunteer Role: Join Cantor Singer and the SWFS team in the environmental bike ride from Sylvan Lake to Manhattan.

Wednesday, September 3 (6:30-8:30pm)
The Only Make Believe Costume Collective

Only Make Believe provides theatrical workshops free of charge to children living with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
Volunteer Roles: Help build costume pieces, backdrops, and props to stuff our trunks. No experience necessary.
Location: Metro-Baptist Church on West 40th Street in Manhattan.

Thursday, September 4 or Monday, September 8 (6:30-8:00pm)
Next Step! Men’s Shelter Orientation Meetings

The SWFS Men’s Shelter provides shelter, support, and encouragement for men in a transitional period in their lives.
Volunteer Role: Come to one of the orientation meetings to find out how you can help the men who stay at the SWFS Next Step! Men;s Shelter!

Saturday, September 20 (9am-12pm)
Upwardly Global Mock Interview

Upwardly Global helps highly-skilled immigrants, refugees and asylees reclaim their careers here in the United States and helps American employers discover and understand this hidden talent pool.
Volunteer Roles: Hold a mock interview with two job seekers and give valuable feedback that will help them in their next interview.
Location: 245 Park Avenue (Between 46th and 47th St).

Saturday, September 20, Oct 18, or Nov 15 (10am-3pm)
Goddard Riverside Community Center

Goddard Riverside Community Center is a nonprofit organization that provides housing, meals, social services, affordable childcare, educational counseling and vocational training for New Yorkers in need.
Volunteer Roles: Help categorize books for the annual book sale.
Location: 593 Columbus Avenue (88th Street) Requirements: Volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

September Mitzvah of the Month!
Sunday, September 21 (11:00am-3:00pm)
Kite Flight

Each year, the Fashion Center holds a kite flight on the roof of Port Authority for children of all ages throughout NYC.
Volunteer Roles: Direct people to the event, hand out programs, or help children decorate kites and work with other art projects.
Location: Port Authority Rooftop

Many Available Dates
HeadCount

HeadCount was created by a group of artists, music industry professionals and fans determined to make sure the live music community is well-represented at the polls.
Volunteer Role: Proactively register voters at concert venues at a designated HeadCount table.
Time Commitment: Come one night or many!
Times and Location: Varies.
Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 and must be enthusiastic, good communicators and reliable.
