A ramp entrance provides access from the street level. Our elevator connects all levels of the building, although it should be noted that the rooftop playspace and the sanctuary bimah are not currently wheelchair accessible. Through generous contributions of our members, a new restroom has recently been created on the mezzanine level serving our Homeless Shelter; we are pleased to advise that this restroom is in compliance with ADA recommendations. Our Caring Community Committee assists those with difficulty coming to the synagogue. If you would like to offer assistance, or require assistance, such as special seating arrangements, transportation from a nearby residence, and/or help getting from a car into the building, please contact the committee through Rabbi Dena Klein, ext. 246. The Hebrew language is part of the Jewish heritage and experience. An introductory Hebrew Marathon and Hebrew courses, a handy glossary of Hebrew terms, prayerbooks which include the Hebrew, transliteration as well as translations, help us learn as we prayer and pray as we learn. We are currently considering revisions, inspired by the work of the past decade on a new prayerbook for the Reform Movement. You are invited to provide support through our Center for Community Learning and our Prayerbook Fund. A limited number of large print prayerbooks are available. Braille prayerbooks, a new assistive listening system, and signing at Services and special events, are goals that would enable all in our community to fully participate. With support from members’ contributions, our Religious School Committee and Evita Skol, Director of Religious School continue to explore an ongoing special needs program. Our Social Services Committee oversees a remarkable program for challenged adults. Learn more about Young Adventurers. If you have specific concerns or suggestions, or wish to support ongoing efforts to create a fully accessible environment, contact the Executive Director, Ann Targownik, ext. 227. |
